Over-Commitment to Buzz-Words May Stem From Damaged Digital DNA

space150 Starts 2007 with a Bang, Winning New Business from Andersen Windows, Dairy Queen, and Schwan's Home Service, Inc.

2006 was a dramatic year of growth for space150, and it set the stage for three new client partnerships we're excited to announce: Andersen Windows, Dairy Queen, and Schwan's Home Service, Inc.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWeb) March 29, 2007 -- 2006 was a dramatic year of growth for space150, and it set the stage for three new client partnerships we're excited to announce: Andersen Windows, Dairy Queen, and Schwan's Home Service, Inc.

All three brands are leaders in the offline world, and they have partnered with space150 to achieve their rightful place as leaders in the digital world. Whether through online, mobile, or other emerging technologies, these brands want to drive their respective industries into the modern age of marketing.

"We have always been proponents for digital-centric branding," says Billy Jurewicz, space150 CEO. "And clients are now starting to demand more of our services. Progressive marketers, in particular, are looking for interactive specialists who can lead them into the modern media world."

As a hybrid agency, tying the best creative practices with the latest technologies, space150 is perfectly positioned to capitalize on this strategy in a way traditional agencies simply can't.

"The concept of new world branding has evolved from traditional advertising," says Lori Yeager, space150 Strategy & Insight Director. "Historically, advertising has been more of a monologue--a singular message delivered to a mass audience. The introduction of new technologies has allowed for a true dialogue, a one-on-one interaction with the consumer at all touch points. It's about developing a real relationship based on give and take."

But we're not going to rest on our laurels; the name of our game is over-commitment to evolution. We've recently expanded our office space in Los Angeles. A New York office is on the horizon, as is a state-of-the-art digital production studio. And 2007 will bring continued growth and new opportunities to space150, challenging our team to take our creativity and service to the next level.

About space150
space150 is a full-service agency with digital DNA: we help create and upgrade brands to the modern world, with a focus on helping our clients realize a return on their digital investments. Our services cover everything from full branding and marketing to technical design and development.

Loophole in RegisterFly.com's System May Save Domain Names

Poker Blog Finds Loophole in RegisterFly.com's System That May Potentially Save Over 1 Million Domain Names

Over 200,000 Clients, which include the Government of Thailand, the Easter Seals charity and Pop star Michael Jackson, could be eligible to save their domain names from loss. A Poker Blog Has Found an Emergency Solution.

Miami, FL (PRWeb) March 16, 2007 -- After over a year turmoil at the Registrar know as RegisterFly there may a be a solution to those inclined to save their domains from loss. RegisterFly has been in and out of courts and has a pressing issue with ICANN, and it seems that a lot of clients want to leave this registrar.

There has even been a website created by distressed RegisterFly clients at registerflies.com. In the wake of all this turmoil a poker blog has found the solution that could potentially help save millions of domains from loss and help RegisterFly's clients transfer their domains to another registrar.

The problem that current RegisterFly clients are having is that they have a lock on their Whois information and therefore cannot transfer their domains until they obtain Authorization Codes from RegisterFly.com. Mr. Valentino Viccetzar, writer for the Poker Rouge Blog, has found a solution that outlines exactly how to acquire the codes in the RegisterFly system quickly.

The solution came to Valentino Viccetzar after weeks of trying to switch registrars, when he was faced with the loss of his domains. "The fascinating part of it all is that we (RegisterFly clients) could have transferred the domains long ago ... had we known this loophole," states Mr. Viccetzar. On his blog post he outlines a 15 Step Process that "If followed to the letter, should give you the (authorization) codes and start the domain transfer immediately."

The Full 15 Step Process is Outlined Here.

Jonathan Newell, Editor, writes:

One of the news categories on Prosecuritytalk is secure communications
in the section on IT security, software and communications and you may
wonder how important this is in the overall structure of managing
security. With the integration of different technologies to create a
balanced surveillance, monitoring and access control environment, the
communication backbone that links all of this together is the
company's server and local area network, the security of which is
paramount.

Integration is what everyone's selling at the moment and IP cameras
have simplified the process for everyone. Cheap, simple and effective
camera networks can be integrated with biometric software to provide
access control and prevent tail-gating and buddying. Give an
electronic lock an IP address and your employees don't even have to
take their hands out of their pockets - the system will identify them,
let them in and record their working hours for the payroll department.
Its very effective, incredibly easy and very cheap with lots of
vendors falling over themselves to bolt it all together for you.

Any security professional will now be asking where the weakest link is
and the answer is the IT guy who holds the key to it all. All these
systems from the cameras to the time and attendance system communicate
on a TCP/IP network that could also connect to the office or the
warehouse. What are the exit points from this network? A laptop, flash
memory, routers and wireless networks to name just a few - all of
which are controlled by the IT administrator.

Secure communications are therefore essential. The field of IT can no
longer be considered as a separate entity, it is enmeshed with the
whole operational scope of the business including physical security
and the IT department must satisfy all the necessary requirements in
terms of network access control, password management, disaster
recovery and continuity.

[1] PHYSICAL ACCESS CONTROL READER AT IFSEC
(TDSi, 12 Mar 2007)

Access control specialist, TDSi, is to showcase its latest suite of
products at IFSEC in May.  One product of note is PalmGarde, a
dedicated physical access control reader incorporating PalmSecure
technology from Fujitsu.  Working on near-infrared light, PalmGarde
reads and processes the vein pattern in the palm of the hand.
Established in the womb, this pattern remains unchanged through a
person's life - unlike fingerprints, which change through childhood
and can be prone to damage and distortion.  PalmGarde delivers a
robust and reliable biometric technology, and since no contact with
the actual sensor is required offers a hygienic, user-friendly
solution appropriate for any public area; particularly those within a
healthcare environment.  It also delivers extraordinarily high
standards of accuracy.  Boasting a false rejection rate of 0.01% and a
false acceptance rate of less than 0.00008%, PalmGarde offers a highly
secure access control solution, delivering considerable advantages
over other biometric technologies.

[2] ROAD BARRIER CRASH TESTED AT 7500KG AT 80KM/HR
(Frontier Pitts Ltd, 09 Mar 2007)

The Terra Road Closer, a horizontally opened, reinforced hinged beam,
was crash tested in accordance with British standard PAS 68-69 2007
standards and Department of State test standard SD-STD-2.01 Revision
A, Certification Class K12.  The test was conducted to prove the
arresting capability of the Terra Road Closer when impacted with a
7500kg test vehicle at a speed of 80km/hour (50mph).  Following the
highly successful crash tests involving the other certified equipment
in the Anti Terra range, Frontier Pitts was confident that the Terra
Road Closer would also pass the toughest test and achieve the most
difficult standard.  This impressive test result has not only proved
the stopping power of this equipment, but also the reliability and
fortitude of design.

[3] ELIMINATE PASSWORDS WITH FINGERPRINT RECOGNITION
(fingerPIN, 05 Mar 2007)

fingerPIN has announced the shipment of its logical access product
MatchLogon with fingerPIN.  Developed for secure network access and
logon the technology uses fingerPIN's patented multi-fingerprint
sequence technology to provide a single step two factor authentication
which completely eliminates the need for passwords and tokens.
MatchLogon with fingerPIN v1.5 is a robust security platform offering
authentication, authorisation, auditing, and administration for the
Microsoft Windows Active Directory.  The fingerPIN is a biometric
fingerprinting technology that increases the complexity of penetrating
single fingerprint security methods.  It transforms an existing single
fingerprint reader into a sophisticated multiple fingerprint reader
through a simple software upgrade.  Through the fingerPIN the risk of
someone fraudulently logging on or accessing a secure directory using
a third person's fingerprint data is reduced to 1 in 10 billion due to
fingerPIN's powerful matching engine which reduces false acceptances
and stores and recalls templates in sequence.

[4] SELF PROGRAMMING ELECTRONIC LOCKING SYSTEM
(Salto Systems, 09 Mar 2007)

Salto Systems has launched a new self programming electronic locking
system specially designed to control doors locked by a mortice lock or
multi point lock and doors that have electronic locking devices (such
as electric strikes magnets, car park barriers etc).  The new Smile
range is suitable for use when you want to control doors on a site by
simple programming from tags, and where no software or computer is
required for programming.  It makes the perfect replacement of a
mechanical master keying system bringing electronic control of the
system and reducing replacement cylinder costs and risk at low cost.
Available in a wall reader format and two models of electronic handle
it covers most needs on a site.  Both handle types are quick and
simple to fit with bolt through fixing to provide stand alone wire
free security solutions.  They are designed to work with most types of
lock with an 8mm follower and euro profile cylinder locks, any type of
door, including those with narrow styled frames and multi point
locking doors.

[6] THREE-DIMENSIONAL ZONE MONITORING
(Pilz Automation Technology, 05 Mar 2007)

Pilz is launching SafetyEYE, the world's first safe camera system for
three-dimensional zone monitoring, which could change the face of
automotive production lines and other automated manufacturing
environments.  The same system also has potential applications outside
industry, such as protecting museum exhibits.  In comparison with
traditional hinged and sliding machine guards, safety light curtains
and laser area scanners are highly advantageous for applications
requiring frequent access by operators.  Not only is opening a
physical guard time-consuming and fatiguing, but maintenance can be
hindered by the presence of the guard and its supporting structure.
Nevertheless, light curtains and laser area scanners only monitor a
flat plane - though mirrors and/or multiple light curtains can be used
to create faceted protection zones.  As a result, the protected area
is often greater than the hazardous zone, which is a waste of floor
space and can also mean that the barrier is triggered earlier than is
absolutely necessary, costing valuable process time.  In the world of
mass production, where floor space is expensive and time is of the
essence, it would clearly be beneficial to have a non-physical safety
barrier that can protect a three-dimensional zone closely matching the
hazardous zone.  And this is exactly what Pilz and DaimlerChrysler
have done by developing SafetyEYE, a safety-related sensing and
control system that is based on three-dimensional machine vision.

[7] PACKAGE SCREENING X-RAY SCREEN
(Applied Scintillation Technologies, 09 Mar 2007)

With letter-bomb attacks in the UK recently dominating the headlines,
Applied Scintillation Technologies announces the latest in its range
of X-ray intensifying screens for use in security screening.  The new
SecureX HB is a high-brightness screen, available in large areas,
designed for use in non-conveyorised X-ray detection systems for low
throughput checking of baggage and packages.  The high sensitivity
SecureX HB screen is particularly suitable for use in systems using
multi level energy control for enhanced detection of plastic
explosives, fine wires, incendiary devices and drugs.  It can be used
with free standing X-ray units, compact desk top units and portable
X-ray viewing screens for on the spot examination of suspicious
objects.  SecureX HB offers inspection systems manufacturers great
flexibility and performance.  The screen can be mounted on a variety
of rigid supports if required, including carbon fibre.  Screens can be
manufactured to the size and shape determined by the application, so
there is no waste or cutting.

[9] UPGRADED CCTV SYSTEMS FOR TRANS-PENNINE RAILWAY
(Siemens Building Technologies, 09 Mar 2007)

Passengers travelling on the TransPennine Express in the North of
England will soon see dramatic improvements to passenger information
and safety systems as Siemens commences work on a major refurbishment
programme worth GBP5 million to upgrade 29 of its rail stations.
Siemens Building Technologies, Security Systems, in partnership with

control room at TransPennine Express' headquarters in Manchester.
Work has already started at most sites and is due for completion in
Spring 2007.  For rail passengers, automated announcements and travel
information will be provided by new public address systems (PA) and,
for the first time in the UK rail industry, new, intuitive, touch
screen passenger help points (PHP) will be provided, half of which
will be interactive and will even offer direct web access - technology
which Siemens has developed specially for this application.  For
increased passenger safety and security, CCTV systems are being
upgraded and expanded on all stations.

[10] RECRUITMENT COMPANY EMPLOYS PRE APPOINTMENT CHECKS
(BackgroundChecking.com, 12 Mar 2007)

Ardea Recruitment Consultancy, the executive recruitment company, has
appointed BackgroundChecking.com, an Experian company, to provide
pre-employment screening services on potential candidates.  With
employee fraud on the increase and continuing business threats from
within the workplace, a reliable background checking system is
essential for checking all potential employees, not just at the point
of entry to an organisation, including the shortlisting stage, but
throughout the period of employment.  The onus is now on recruitment
consultancies, who are typically not equipped to do background checks
themselves, to undertake effective background checking before placing
people in posts.  BackgroundChecking.com offers a range of detailed
screening processes and will be providing Ardea with regular candidate
checking services.

San Diego (PRWeb) March 5, 2007 -- digital-telepathy (DT), the San Diego based Agency, announced today that they will support OpenID in all of their upcoming Web applications. DT just completed the first OpenID development for a large Latin American social network and is poised to make the ambitious move toward a portable identity solution for any of their clients looking to build membership-based websites. At the forefront of the Identity 2.0 revolution, DT has been in support of the OpenID standard since its inception in 2005. With Technorati, Microsoft, AOL, digg and Netvibes all behind it, that foresight is coming to fruition as OpenID emerges as the industry standard for single sign-in solutions. DT believes that OpenID will play a major role in lowering the barrier to website entry by increasing membership conversions as well as the promoting of return visitors.

OpenID is a decentralized online identity verification which intends to provide Web users with a single sign-on for all applications. Any website can employ OpenID software as a way for users to sign in, replacing the traditional login name and password with a custom Uniform Resource Identifier (URI). Most importantly, the potential interaction with cross-site information sharing is limitless with OpenID. With users' permission, OpenID will allow the fusion of user profile data from multiple Web sites to create a richer, more customized experience.

Mike Arrington, founder of
TechCrunch, confirmed at last week's Future of Web Apps conference in London, "It's definitely time to declare OpenID a winner and the hope for a single-sign on world a reality."

Jonathan Newell, Editor, writes:

Security of mobile devices has hit the headlines again recently with
two high profile incidents of laptops being deftly extracted from
their owners who just happened to have loaded personal data records
onto them. In the case of the Nationwide Building Society, it was 11
million customer records for which they paid heavily through the
courts. More recently, Worcestershire city council lost a laptop
containing the data of 18000 council staff. PGP comments that lifting
a laptop is the easiest way to compromise the information protection
policy of any organisation. Of course, it doesn't stop there - having
your data carried around in someone's briefcase or shirt pocket in the
case of PDA's and flash devices is asking for trouble unless that data
is comprehensively protected. Sadly it seems that in many cases it
isn't. We have to admit that banks and government organisations are
usually pretty good at this sort of protection so if they're getting
it wrong, imagine the chaotic mess everyone else is in.

There are a growing number of companies in existence which can help
out with this problem with their security products for mobile devices
which include anything outside of the firewall - laptops, PDA's and
flash memory included. We cover their news on the website and you can
read more about PGP's comments by clicking through from the link in
the newsletter below.

It may also be worth visiting InfoSecurity Europe in April where this
issue is certain to be high on the agenda. The conference takes place
between the 24th and 26th of April in London and you can read more
about their exhibitors on their page of our web site.

I hope you find this issue of our newsletter useful. In addition to
the new products, news and ideas featured here, there are hundreds
more on our website and dozens more being added daily, so do take a
look if you can.

Alternatively, the full stories behind all the summaries and headlines
in this newsletter can be retrieved by email alone: see

In the meantime, if you have any suggestions as to how we might make

[2] INTELLIGENT VIDEO SURVEILLANCE FOR BARCELONA METRO
(Sony Europe, ISS Division, 19 Feb 2007)

Line 9 (L-9) of the Barcelona Underground is implementing a Sony
intelligent video surveillance solution to guarantee safety and
operating efficiency across its network.  The solution features an
integrated networked video surveillance system built on the innovative
DEPA (Distributed Enhanced Processing Architecture) platform, which
includes Sony's award-winning IP monitoring software RealShot Manager
and 1,585 IP cameras deployed in the 51 stations along the line.  From
Santa Coloma de Gramanet, at the north end of the city limits, to the
airport of El Prat, at the southern end, the L-9 line serves some of
the busiest areas of Barcelona.  It crosses the important Carlos
III-Ronda del Mig-Travessera de Dalt-Sagrera axis, servicing areas
critical to Barcelona's thriving economy such as the Logistics
Activities Area (ZAL) in the port and the Zona Franca (duty-free
zone).  The network links five municipalities, and is scheduled to
carry some 90 million passengers a year.  The project required a
robust security and monitoring system to guarantee users' safety and
security at all times.  The complexity of the project was heightened
by the multitude of installations, high number of stations - in some
cases 60 metres below street level, and numerous stretches of line,
stairs, escalators and corridors.  The real challenge lay in deploying
a sophisticated control system combining efficiency and intelligence.

[3] BLAST WINDOW RETENTION ANCHOR SYSTEMS
(Cintec, 19 Feb 2007)

Cintec America of Baltimore, MD, a world leader in the field of
structural masonry retrofit strengthening, repair, and preservation,
offers its Blast Window Retention Anchor Systems.  Cintec's Blast
Window Retention Anchor Systems offer a customised solution for each
application and masonry substrate to provide maximum resistance to
explosions.  The award-winning Blast Window Retention Anchor System
process begins with an inspection of the structure by qualified
personnel.  The structure is then modelled to assess the most likely
response and the risk inherent to the structure in order to determine
the best reinforcement pattern.  At the site, the Cintec Blast Window
Retention Anchor System, fashioned out of a steel bar enclosed in a
mesh fabric sleeve, are inserted into the masonry and then connected
to the frames.  A specially-developed, non-polymer, cementitious grout
is then injected into the sleeve under low pressure.  The grout then
fuses with the mesh, expands, and shapes itself around the steel to
fit the space.  Cintec uses state-of-the-art dry or low-volume wet
diamond drilling techniques to reduce or even eliminate water damage
associated with conventional concrete wet drilling.  Extensive in-situ
load testing on various sizes and types of Cintec Blast Window
Retention Anchor Systems has proven that large blast loads can be
successfully resisted, while providing a reliable, secure and
fool-proof fixing in all types of masonry substrate

[4] FALSE ALARM REDUCTION TO MOTOR DEALERSHIPS
(Optex (Europe), 22 Feb 2007)

One of the oldest and most well-respected motor dealerships is using
innovative external Redwave detection technology from Optex Europe,
specified and installed by local specialists Reay Security, to protect
a number of its trading sites throughout the north east.  In keeping
with many such establishments, the need to protect vehicles overnight
from damage or theft is paramount.  Being outside, however, there are
issues with wildlife, adverse weather conditions, advertising bunting
etc triggering alarms which are by definition 'false', and potentially
therefore impacting on police response.  Keeping false alarms to a
minimum, whilst being sure that 'real' intruders are detected, was the
task given to Reay Security, who in turn recommended Optex Europe's
Redwave Detectors.  Redwave detectors have been designed specifically
to counter the three major headaches for installers, remote monitoring
centres, and end-users associated with false alarms in outdoor
detection: repetitive movement - ie from objects such as trees, flags,
advertising bunting etc; small animals - from foxes and other mammals
to insects flying in front of the detector; and 'over-ranging' -
alarms triggered by activity (eg from passing vehicles) beyond the
perimeter being protected.  In addition to using passive infrared
(PIR) and microwave technology as in conventional combination
detectors, Redwave also has Adjustable Microwave Range Limiter (AMRL)
technology that allows users to adjust the detection distance, and a
Dual Quad Zone Logic (DQZL) PIR that uses two PIR detectors to
increase detection density and eliminate undetectable areas.

[5] AVOID COMPLICATING CARD CRIME PREVENTION
(The 3rd Man, 26 Feb 2007)

The announcement by APACS that it is working with banks, retailers,
trade associations and others to trial next generation fraud
prevention solutions to combat 'card not present' fraudulent
transactions is another step in the fight against retail crime, but
fraud protection specialist the 3rd Man believes that the industry is
in danger of over-complicating systems and alienating genuine
customers.  Proposed new solutions include a cardholder inserting
their chip and PIN card into a hand-held card reader and entering
their PIN, as they would do in a store.  On confirming the PIN
entered, the reader generates a unique, one-time only passcode which
the cardholder provides, when prompted, for authentication with the
cardholder's bank.  This solution, says APACS, will ensure that the
person conducting business online or over the phone is the genuine
customer and will make these types of transaction even safer.

[6] POOR CONFIDENCE IN WEB SECURITY PREVAILS
(Symantec, 23 Feb 2007)

The UK's online economy is in danger of stagnating if businesses don't
instil more confidence in their customers, according to research
released by Symantec.  The study revealed that 66 per cent of
consumers believe that making transactions online puts them at
increased risk of online fraud, and 30 per cent agree that Internet
security threats prevent them from making more online transactions.
The survey, carried out amongst 2,500 UK adults, has revealed that
despite three-quarters of the population shopping and banking online,
many are looking for additional reassurances from online retailers
before spending more.  While most respondents (45 per cent) have no
plans to spend any more than their current online average of around
GBP100 a month over the next year, and 48 per cent of shoppers still
prefer to shop on the high street, the results suggest that online
business isn't as booming as it could be.  However, if businesses
guaranteed that they would compensate their customers should their
money or identity be stolen, then 77 per cent of those questioned
would be more encouraged to spend online.

[7] THAMES VALLEY TO USE SIEMENS CCTV
(Siemens Building Technologies, 26 Feb 2007)

Siemens Building Technologies, Security Systems has entered into a
Framework Agreement with the Thames Valley Police for the supply of
Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) and CCTV cameras, for a
period of three years.  This is the first contract of this type and
represents a new method of working for both parties.  Thames Valley
Police and its partners throughout the UK can now take advantage of
special fixed pricing, negotiated under a strict tendering process.
This allows them to call off equipment and services at short notice,
at the same time taking advantage of pre-negotiated rates.  Siemens
was selected to fulfil this contract not just for their keen pricing,
but also because of its considerable experience supplying equipment
and services to this sector.  Automatic number plate recognition
(ANPR) is helping police forces tackle criminality on the roads.  It
is an invaluable tool in promoting public assurance that crime is
being systematically reduced.  ANPR systems read, record, log and
check number plates against a database.  If recognised as significant
or suspicious, the system can alert users to take the appropriate
action.  Siemens has developed a more sophisticated ANPR system, based
on its considerable understanding of the security requirements of both
the public and private sectors.  The system will automatically check
the number plates of moving or stationery vehicles against the PNC,
DVLA or local databases and is capable of rapidly deploying accurate,
timed information of stolen or untaxed vehicles, known criminals or
suspects' vehicles.
